Fred Barker is a licensed professional counselor in the state of Missouri and an ordained pastor. He earned his Master of Science and Education degree in Counselor Education at Missouri Baptist University and his Master in Divinity from Midwestern Baptist Seminary. He has practiced in Christian Counseling clinics, hospitals and correctional facilities for crisis intervention.
Fred’s passion is to help others navigate the challenges that life often presents. When life seems to overwhelm, his passion is to help you overcome. His desire is to establish a safe environment to express, to assess issues and set goals that lead to growth. He works primarily from a cognitive-behavioral model that leads to a transformed mind and purposeful living. While Fred works from a Biblical worldview, he is respectful of the client’s perspective and building on common ground. Fred works with adolescents, adults and senior adults with life stressors including depression, anxiety, stress, anger management, marital, and pre-marital couples. He also is available to work with pastors and churches that have experienced conflict or hurt.
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind (bold/italics mine), that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect” (Romans 12:2 ESV).
